Judge Dismisses Anti-Sanctuary City Law Attempt in Texas

A U.S. district judge in Austin denied an early blessing for a Texas law that seeks to punish sanctuary cities by refusing to declare it constitutional ahead of the measure taking effect next month, according to Reuters. The Republican-supported law is the first of its kind since Donald Trump took office in January while running on a platform that promised to crack down on illegal immigration, which particularly would affect the state of Texas which shares the longest border with Mexico.
